DEPARTMENT Bankers on THE MOVE 1ST SOURCE BANK / SOUTH BEND Andrea Short has been promoted to president of the bank’s holding company. She has 40 years of banking experience, including 26 with 1st Source starting as tax director, then moving to vice president and controller, senior vice president, chief financial officer, principal accounting officer and executive vice president. Short was named president of the bank in 2020 and added the title of CEO in 2022. She will continue in both capacities moving forward as she takes on president responsibilities for the holding company. Short has volunteered her time and talents with numerous community organizations, currently serving as secretary and treasurer of the Medical Education Foundation and as a board member for the South Bend Elkhart Regional Partnership. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Alma College, completed the University of Chicago Booth School of Business’ Chicago Management Institute and Northwestern University Business School’s Executive Management Program, and holds the certified public accountant designation. BANK OF WOLCOTT Chris Crabb has been promoted to chief operating officer. She joined the bank in 2010, most recently serving as vice president of retail banking. Crabb has a total of 23 years of experience in banking and has been an active volunteer with the Salvation Army for the past 10 years. Crabb graduated from the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin. CENTIER BANK / MERRILLVILLE Joe DiNicolantonio has joined the bank as chief retail officer with more than 20 years of experience. He earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Florida. Karen Lance has been promoted to vice president, retail special services. She has been with the bank for 40 years, including time as branch manager and retail special services manager. Lance volunteers with the Crown Point Chamber of Commerce and Meals on Wheels of Northwest Indiana. Bryan Olund has been promoted to vice president, small business banking. He has been with the bank since 2021, during which time he was named the bank’s SBA Lender of the Year and Small Business Lender of the Year. Olund serves as treasurer for RiverBend Cancer Services, and is on the boards of CDFI Friendly South Bend and the Business Development Corporation. Olund earned his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University. Katlin Gaffron has been promoted to assistant vice president, branch manager. She has been with the bank since 2017. Gaffron serves as secretary of the Granger Sunrise Rotary Club and education coordinator for the Elite Innovators Business Networking International Group. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University. Janelle Spindler has been promoted to assistant vice president, branch manager. She joined the bank in 2018 as an assistant branch manager before being promoted to branch manager in 2020 at the bank’s Strack and Van Til in-store branch. Her latest promotion comes with a move to the bank’s new Cedar Lake branch, which just opened April 29. Spindler serves on the Cedar Lake Chamber’s board of directors, as president of Hanover Jr. Wildcats Football and Cheer, and hosts financial literacy classes through Junior Achievement. 32 HOOSIERBANKER
