2024 Vol. 108 No. 6

If you weren’t a banker, what would you do for a living? I’m pretty sure that I would be an interior designer or florist! I would use my creative abilities to create beautiful spaces or arrangements! I have the ability to see the end result and the stubborn will to see it through! Who or what inspires you? I am blessed to have many people in my life who inspire me, so to name one is too hard. My parents inspire me with their dedication and commitment to family and Jesus! My mentors, Dan Moore and Lisa Arnold, inspire me to achieve accomplishments I never thought were possible professionally. How do you define success? The definition of success to me is using your uniquely created talents for the benefit of loving others well. Success is listening, caring for others more than yourself, having a positive attitude, helping others through difficulties, and encouragement to achieve something they didn’t think was possible. What’s your go-to comfort food? I probably have WAY too many of these! My favorite meal is meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans and yeast rolls! I LOVE cookies, especially oatmeal and monster cookies, but my mom’s cinnamon rolls are the BEST! What do you do for fun when you’re not working? When I am not working, you can find me outside working in my flower bed, feeding the birds or walking. I also love spending time with my family, which includes my parents and my 12 (13 is on the way) grandchildren. I love to do Zumba, cook or redecorate a room! My favorite vacation spot is the beach! “Even greater than Melissa’s knowledge and expertise is her passion for people. She is a servant leader in every sense of the term, always putting others first with a heartfelt desire to see them grow and develop into their very best selves.” – Lisa Arnold, President and CEO Home Bank, Martinsville NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2024 29
