Leslie J. “Les” Robbins, Jr., CPA, and his wife Melanie were featured in the 2023 Nebraska Ledger magazine, published by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln School of Accountancy, for their generosity in financing scholarships for UNL accounting students. In 2012, they established the Robbins Family Charitable Foundation with a goal of giving back to their community and investing in future generations. Robbins credits Nebraska Society of CPAs Past Chairman Bill Strain for making a big impact on his career; Strain hired him as a staff accountant during his last semester of college. Robbins and his wife then moved to Omaha, where he joined a three-year-old firm, which later became Lutz. Robbins became the first non-founder to make partner three years later. In 1992, he moved to Darst & Associates. Six years later, he left public accounting and transitioned to various entrepreneurial adventures.
