Heimes of Columbus, Neb., for his decades of dedicated service to the Society and for his outstanding leadership in the Nebraska business community during the Society’s Annual Meeting, held Monday, November 5, 2018, at the Embassy Suites in La Vista, Neb. Heimes was the recipient of the Society’s 2018 Distinguished Service to the Profession Award. During its 90-year history, the Society has had nearly 6,300 members. Heimes is only the 33rd member to receive the Society’s highest award. A member of the Society since 1971, Heimes has almost continually served on Society committees and boards for more than four decades. After years of committee service in the 1970s, he joined the Society Board of Directors in 1980 and was elected chairman of the board in 1984. Following that, he continued his committee service and in the 1990s served for a number of years on the Foundation Board of Trustees for the Society. Today, he remains a part of the Society’s active leadership, serving as vice president of the Society’s Political Education Committee (PEC). The PEC helps with the financial support of Nebraska state 2018 Distinguished Service to the Profession Award About the Distinguished Ser- vice to the Profession Award The purpose of the Public Ser- vice Award is to recogn ize Nebraska CPAs who have per- formed outstanding public ser- vice in their communities. The nominee must be a CPA, be a member of the Nebraska So- ciety of CPAs, and be in good standing with the profession. Selection of the award recipient is made by a five-member com- mittee of Society members and approved by the Society Board of Directors. ABOUT THE DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO THE PROFESSION AWARD The p rpose of the Distinguished Service to t fes ion Award is to recognize Nebraska CPAs who have, during their career, demonstrated a commitment to the accounting profession locally, nationally, or internationally. The nominee must be a , be a ember of the ebraska Society, and be in good standing with the profession. Selection of the award recipient is made by a five-member committee of Society members and approved by the Society Board of Directors.
