Compassionate. Cou r ageou s. Adap t able. Di l i gent . Resourcef ul. As our state begins to recover from the most widespread disasters in recent history, our people remain #NebraskaStrong! —although the recovery will be long and arduous. The latest preliminary estimates of damage to homes and businesses, as well as state infrastructure, is estimated at $1.5 billion and climbing. Three-fourths of the state's 93 counties have declared an emergency. About 2,000miles of state roads—roughly20percent of the entire state road system—have been closed at some point during the last month. Losses to the state's largest economic sector, agriculture, include $400 million in livestock losses and $440 million in crop losses. In an attempt to help answer your questions, the Society has created a Disaster Recovery Resources page. We know that recovery— bot h f rom a persona l and busi ness standpoint—will occur in phases and will constantly change. Our top priority is serving the CPA profession in Nebraska with excellence, innovation, and remarkable service. Please let us know how we can best help you serve your clients and communities throughout these trying times and beyond. Here are a few highlights of your Society’s most recent ef for ts to help advance the profession: • The Society has nearly 100 courses planned for the coming year!
