This year has continued at a strong pace in vehicle sales and recent forecasts show the San Diego County market is predicted to increase 6.3% from2014 to 2015. There are several factors contributing to these forecasts; including incentives to upgrade, pent up demand and the labor market improving. In almost every way, today’s new cars and trucks are far superior to vehicles that came out just five years ago. But it’s the introduction of advanced safety features (i.e, mitigation braking, lane alert, smart cruise control, blind spot mon- itoring, rear-view cameras, etc.) on mainstream vehicles that will give a boost to sales for many years to come. These safety-related technologies will provide strong motivation for consumers to trade in their current vehicles for new ones. As mentioned above, there are other con- tributing factors to the predicted increase in sales, but as always, we need to be aware of the ever-changing landscape of our industry and environment. As Chairman of the New Car Dealers Association, I am reminded of the powerful resources and benefits the Association provides. Frommeeting rooms at our state-of-the-art facility in SorrentoValley, to industry seminars, labor and legal resources and of course, our world-class San Diego International Auto Show. These are the benefits that keep our dealer- ships front and center to all the issues that affect our day-to-day business.
