We kicked off the summer with our Annual Meeting & Luncheon at the beautiful Lodge at Torrey Pines. This event was one of our highest attended Annual Meetings in recent years with over 120 Dealer and Associate members joining us to hear keynote speakers, Peter Welch and Bill Fox from the National Automobile Dealers Association, who delivered thought-provoking, powerful speeches on our State of the Industry. The New Car Dealers Association building was at full capacity with the recent California New Advertising Laws seminar hosted by the California New Car Dealers Association. Again, this was one of the largest crowds we have seen for a seminar as the delicate issue of advertising laws in California have become more prevalent. We have also seen amarked increase in partic- ipation of the California Sales Training Academy (CSTA)—the NCDA’s longest-running program to date. Established in 1991 by the NCDA, the California Sales Training Academy offers a free automotive sales training course to promote the professionalism in the retail automotive business through education. Emphasis is placed on product knowledge, ethical behavior and customer service. If your dealership is not an Academy partner, I strongly suggest you inquire with the NCDA office as to how to become one. We rounded out the summer with a trip to the Auto Shows of North America Conference in Detroit. While there, we met with key manufac- turers, agencies and production houses to dis- cuss plans for this year’s San Diego International Auto Show. We received great feedback from our partners and are anxious to implement our roll out plans for another phenomenal show December 31-January 3 at the San Diego Convention Center. Lastly, I would like to welcome our newest addition to the NewCar Dealers Association staff. Diana Silva has joined us as our Accounting and AdministrationManager and brings several years of experience to the NCDA office.
