He began work- ing as a surveyor in the summer of 1984. He graduated with a degree in Geography from Utah State University in 1990 and began working as a surveyor full time, first with CJ Schuchert, then with CRS Engineers, before finding his home at Sunrise Engineering in 1993. He received his license in 1994 and also became a member of the Utah Council of Land Surveyors the same year. These include John Alden, the noted leader who came to America on the Mayflower, and Joseph Lee Robinson, who crossed the plains with Brigham Young and helped to settle Farmington, Utah and Parowan, Utah. His grandfather, Joseph L Rob- inson, installed the first irrigation wells in the unincorporated com- munity of Flowell, Utah, where he grew up. His maternal Grandfather, Charles Christensen, ran 5,000 head of cattle on the open ranges of Utah and fought inWorldWar I in the 177th Division, later known as “The Lost Battalion.” His father, Ralph Robinson, managed the first rural electrical cooperative, Flowell Electric Assn, that brought electricity to the farms of East Millard County. Dale has applied the pioneer spirit to his effort at Sunrise Engi- neering and within the profession of land surveying. t L – R: Alden Robinson, PE (ret), Sunrise Engineering Founder; Dale Robinson; and Dan Perry 2016 Dale Robinson 2015 Scott Bishop 2014 Danial Perry 2013 Darryl Fenn 2012 Arthur LeBaron 2011 Steve Keisel 2010 Jerry Allred 2009 John Stahl 2008 Dan Knowlden, Sr. 2007 Keith Hafen 2006 Walt Cunningham 2005 Ernest Rowley 2004 RonWhitehead 2003 Dale Bennett 2002 Robert Knox 2001 Nelson Marshall 2000 Richard Kimball 1999 Martin Moore 1998 Robert Jones PAST SURVEYOR OF THE YEAR
