www.uba.org 12 Mark Your Calendars and Plan to Join Us June 29 - July 2, 2014 in Sun Valley, Idaho Utah and Montana Bankers Association’s 2014 Convention J anuary 16 and 17, Ag bankers and their Ag customers met in St. George for the annual Ag Outlook and Conference, jointly sponsored with Utah State University. The conference kicked off with two fascinating tours in the St. George area including the Washington County Water Treatment Plan and the newly opened Family Dollar Distribution Center, an 817,000 square foot, 60-foot state-of the-art facility that services nine surrounding states and boasts of over 10 miles of conveyor. During dinner, at- tendees were entertained by the Tuacahn High School “Titan Guitar Ensemble” and heard from John Blanchfield, Amer- ican Bankers Association. On Friday, top-notch speakers and topics includ- ed Randy Julander, Weather Forecast Update; Tyler Finlinson and Cameron Morby, Family Farm Succession Plan- ning; Greg Greathouse, Water Rights; and Brandon Willis from the USDA who provided an update on Crop Insurance. The conference wrapped up with the much-anticipated annual Ag Outlook pre- sented by Dillon Feuz, USU and James Robb, Livestock Marketing Information Center. The 3rd Annual Bank Executive Winter Conference February 11 and 12 at the Little America Hotel in Salt Lake City was packed with two days of relevant, forward-thinking topics dealing with the economy, balance sheets, technol- ogy, regulatory issues, and much more. Governor Gary Herbert keynoted the conference, followed by an impressive lineup of experts who shared their insights and explored challenges with attendees during general and breakout sessions. Some highlights included Com- missioner Ed Leary; Jim Chessen, ABA; Dr. Quincy Krosby, Prudential Annu- ities; Scott Hildenbrand, SandlerO’Neill + Partners; Gary Vickrey, Tanner; Joe Sullivan, Market Insight; and Steve Ford, son of President Gerald Ford. Featured this year was a reception and private showing of one of the largest collections of the priceless 2,000 year old “Dead Sea Scrolls”at the Leonardo Museum. The Bank Executive Winter Conference is a great companion to the UBA Convention in Sun Valley, providing for relevant busi- ness discussions and great networking opportunities. n 2014 is off to a good start for the UBA Education Department with two very successful conferences
