He is committed to strengthening the connection between UCLS and NSPS so Utah surveyors remain informed, supported and engaged in national initiatives. As Utah’s representative, Sean participated in the 2025 NSPS Spring Meeting and met with congressional offices, including Rep. Burgess Owens, Sen. John Curtis and Sen. Mike Lee. These discussions focused on issues central to the profession, such as: • Protecting professional licensure for surveyors • Supporting survey monument preservation, especially following natural disasters • Advancing the MAPRoads Act and other infrastructure‑related legislation • Encouraging national support for Pennsylvania Rep. John Joyce’s resolution affirming the importance of licensed surveying Utah’s involvement was also highlighted nationally. NSPS featured Utah in its January 2026 Surveyor Says! newsletter, recognizing our participation in federal outreach and our engagement on Capitol Hill. Looking ahead, his priorities for the year include: • Strengthening communication between NSPS and UCLS members • Increasing awareness of federal legislation affecting surveying • Supporting education and outreach efforts that promote the profession • Ensuring Utah remains well‑represented in national discussions on standards, workforce development and public policy https://ucls.memberclicks.net UCLS Foresights 13
