Michael Nadeau, PLS, CFedS WFPS Utah Director Meridian Engineering Inc., President Michael Nadeau, PLS, CFedS, serves as president of Meridian Engineering Inc., where he also leads the Survey Division. With over three decades of experience in land surveying, Michael has built his career around delivering high-quality, defensible survey products across a wide range of public and private sector projects throughout Utah and surrounding states. His expertise spans boundary analysis, right-of-way and transportation projects, survey control and complex title research, with a strong emphasis on integrating traditional surveying practices with evolving technologies such as terrestrial and aerial LiDAR. Michael currently serves as Utah’s director to the Western Federation of Professional Surveyors (WFPS), where he represents Utah’s surveying community at a regional level. He is also a past chairman of WFPS and currently serves as chairman of both the Conference Committee and the Legislative Committee. In these roles, he is actively involved in shaping regional collaboration efforts, supporting legislative awareness across member states, and helping coordinate conferences that bring surveyors together to share knowledge and strengthen the profession. In addition to his role with WFPS, Michael remains actively involved with UCLS through the Standards & Ethics Committee as the UCLS board liaison, contributing to efforts that improve clarity and consistency in professional practice. His recent work has included updates to the Corner Record Guide, including development of a fillable form and supporting CAD templates, completed in coordination with County Surveyors throughout the state to improve usability and consistency for surveyors statewide. Michael is a strong advocate for mentorship and the long-term growth of the profession. He places a high value on developing the next generation of surveyors through hands-on training, knowledge sharing and maintaining high expectations for both field and office practices.
