I am excited to continue growing the Trig-Star program and expanding its impact as both an educational initiative and a means of promoting the future of the surveying profession. David Mortensen, PLS, is a consulting land surveyor with over 28 years of experience in the profession. He graduated from Brigham Young University in April 1997 with a degree in broadcast communications and began his career working with his brother, Brad Mortensen. This opportunity ultimately led him into the surveying profession, where he obtained his first professional license in Utah within 10 years. He is currently licensed in Utah, North Dakota, Nevada and Arizona. David has been actively involved in leadership within the surveying community. He has served as chairman of the Utah Council of Land Surveyors’ (UCLS) Construction Staking Committee and as president of the Salt Lake Chapter of UCLS. Through these roles, he has contributed to advancing industry standards, fostering professional collaboration and promoting the value of the surveying profession. He is also committed to supporting education and mentoring the next generation of surveyors. David values opportunities to engage with students and young professionals and is dedicated to strengthening the future of the profession through outreach, education and leadership.
